Zona Mae Donohue, age 83, of West, passed away Tuesday, October 28, at Providence Health Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Zona Mae was born on July 19, 1925 in West, the daughter of Albert Luther and Emma (Curry) Crabb. She attended Ross School, where she played basketball, West High School and McLennan Community College to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Nursing Home Administration. On July 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Charles "Red" Donohue in West. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1993. She worked for Burlington Cotton Mill and West Rest Haven as a Nurse Aide, Social Director, and Administrator for over twenty years before retiring in 1987. After her retirement, she served as President of the West Senior Center for seventeen years. Zona Mae also served on the Board of Directors of Bold Springs Cemetery Association, was a member of VFW Post #4819 Ladies Auxiliary, past member of the Texas Greyhound Association, and a member of First Baptist Church of West, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and friends. She also was a Texas Longhorn Fan and enjoyed watching sports events and Greyhound racing. She is also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Albert J. Crabb, L. M. Crabb, and Woodrow Crabb; and two sisters, Gladys Goldsmith and Beulah Willis. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Donohue of Gholson and Donna Vanek of West; three grandchildren, Scott Sparks, Krystal Vanek, and Zachary Vanek; two great-grandchildren, Jake Wallace Sparks and Jaidn Keith Sparks; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Active Pallbearers will be Scott Sparks, Zachary Vanek, Aaron Haskin, Troy Willenborg, Jake Sparks, and Royce Sparks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gregory DeLeon, Vance Willis, Everett Willis, Marvin Goldsmith, and Corky Howard. Memorials may be made to the West Senior Center.
