Zenophon "Zen" Dickenson, age 71, of West, passed away Friday morning, November 3, 2006 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at White Rock Cemetery near Ross, with Chaplain Brian Pendleton officiating. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Dickenson was born on August 26, 1935 in Chambersville, Texas, the son of Charlie and Leila (Whit) Dickenson. He attended schools in Chambersville. In serving his country, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. On December 31, 1974, he was united in marriage to Deana Kay Dickenson in Waco. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2005. He worked as a construction worker and did bulldozing for many locations in the Hill and McLennan County areas, including the construction of Lake Aquilla. He also worked for a few years for the City of Robinson until his retirement. Zen loved playing bingo, watching football games and enjoyed playing with his dogs. He was a member of West V.F.W. Post 4819 and a lifetime member of American Veterans. Survivors include his brothers-in-law, Dennis Porter and wife Sheryl of West, and Bobby Humphrey and wife Carmen of Austin; nephews, Keith Porter and Troy Porter of West, and Tommy Porter Jr. of China Spring; nieces, Delayne Chudej and husband David, Darla Gerik and husband Troy, all of West, Diana Teague of San Antonio, Barbara Bolte of Austin, and Sandra Wiesman of Lago Vista; and several cousins and other relatives. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice.
