Wilma (Rejcek) Kallus, age 89, of Waco, passed away late Wednesday morning, July 5, 2023 at St. Catherine's/Providence Village in Waco.
A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco, with Rev. Cyril Ejaidu and Rev. Joseph Geleney as celebrants. Graveside Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Wilma will lie-in-state from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
Wilma was born December 3, 1933 in Penelope, the daughter of Valentine and Christine (Makovy) Rejcek. She was a 1951 graduate of Penelope High School. On January 1, 1955 she was united in marriage to Patrick Kallus in Penelope. Patrick preceded her in death on August 2, 2017. Wilma was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco, where she sang in the church choir and was chairman of the Young Matrons Catholic Women's Guild. She was also a Campfire Girl's Troop Leader. Wilma worked at American Amicable in Waco and was working there at the time of the 1953 Waco tornado. She also worked for Sears Roebuck & Company for over 20 years until her retirement. Wilma enjoyed sewing (for pleasure and for the public), working in her yard, gardening, cooking, shopping, listening to Czech music, dancing, and baking everyone's favorites like cherry pie, and holiday fruitcake cookies. She was an avid family photographer and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and attending all of their events.
Wilma is also preceded in death by parents; brothers, George Rejcek, Albert B. Rejcek, Edmund Rejcek Sr., and Lawrence Rejcek; and sisters, Lucille Kubala, Bernadette Gerik, and Geraldine Neslony.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Dunn and husband Bill of Garland, Donna Wetegrove and husband Adolph of Austin, Stephen Kallus and wife Diane of Chalk Bluff, and Michelle Kallus of Oak Point; her grandchildren, Ashley Dunn, Ethan Dunn and husband Jean Francois Tauzin, Shelby Dunn and fiancé Nicolle Philhower, Zachary Kallus, Rachel Kallus, and Bradley Russell; a sister, Josephine Cervenka and husband Robert; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Bradley Russell, Zachary Kallus, Michael Kubala, Shawn Rejcek, Charles Kubala, and Rachel Kallus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco, Providence Village/St. Catherine's Activities Fund or K/K Enrichment Foundation for Patrick and Wilma (Rejcek) Kallus Scholarship Fund.
