William R. "Buck" Uptmor, Jr., age 45, of Abbott, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, while providing the ultimate sacrifice to the Community of West. A Rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki and Rev. Michael Ajewole, MSP as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours. Buck will lie in state beginning 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the funeral home. Buck was born April 11, 1968 in Waco to Billy Ray and Beverly Ann (Middleton) Uptmor, Sr. A 1986 graduate of West High School, he went on to attend Hill Junior College for two years studying air conditioning. He also attended TSTI where he studied auto body work. For over 25 years, he owned and operated Uptmor Welding and Construction. He built fences, barns, arenas, including designing and constructing the Hubbard Arena & Auction facility. On October 16, 1999, he married Arcy Silva in Pharr. A great chef, Buck liked to grill. An animal lover, Buck was always picking up a stray one. He loved hunting, fishing, watching his children's sporting events, coaching little league, and supporting his daughter in barrel racing. He trained and jockeyed race horses and was the drummer for the Billy Uptmor and the Makers band. He loved to rodeo and rode saddle broncs, bareback broncs, and bulls. Buck was always willing to help someone whenever he could. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Tours, West Longhorn Club where he served as a Director, Catholic Life, and SPJST Lodge 6 in Cottonwood. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Annie and Fred Uptmor, Sr.; Truman Middleton, and his father-in-law, Rames Silva. Survivors include his beloved wife of 13 years, Arcy Uptmor of Abbott; parents, Billy and Beverly Uptmor of Tours; sons, Hunter and Trevor Uptmor both of Abbott; daughter, Dusty Uptmor of Abbott; grandmother, Agnes Middleton of Tours; brother, Brian Uptmor and wife, Kris, of Tours; sister, Bethany Raines and husband, Matt, of Tours; mother-in-law, Julia Silva of Pharr; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a slew of friends. Active pallbearers will be Brian Uptmor, Dwayne Uptmor, Lynn Middleton, Sergio Silva, Matthew Marek and Garrett Rieger. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Raines, Zander Raines, Gavin Raines, Junior Rieger, Johnny Mynar Jr., Joe Middleton and Chilo Rodriguez. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Buck Uptmor Children's Fund at Point West Bank, 200 West Oak Street, West, TX 76691.
