William S. (Bill) Pfleiderer, Sr., age 72, of Leroy, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at his residence surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Greg Way and Rev. Joe Palermo officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Bill was born on August 21, 1935 in Waldo, Ohio, the son of Fred Harold and Sylvia (Phillipi) Pfleiderer. He attended school in Waldo and joined the United States Air Force on December 9, 1953 and proudly served his country until February 28, 1974 with tours of duty in Japan, Okinawa, and Vietnam. On September 16, 1961 he was united in marriage to Gayle Wilson. He then had a 20 year career of Long Haul Truck Driving, working for Krafcor in Waco and Merit in Temple. He dearly loved truck driving, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time at Navarro Mills with the camping crew from Leroy. Bill served on the Leroy City Council and was assistant fire chief for the Leroy Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a Deacon of the Leroy Baptist Church and was a member of the board of directors of The Leroy Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred (Jack) Pfleiderer; and two sisters, Mary Lou Wagner and Joann Andrews; and his father-in-law, Cecil C. Wilson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years, Gayle Pfleiderer of Leroy; his daughter, Kelly D. Pfleiderer-Hlavenka and husband William "Billy" Jr. of Robinson; two sons, William S. Pfleiderer, Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Harold Pfleiderer and fiance Ashlee Hyde of Leroy; two granddaughters, Amber Marie Pfleiderer of Burlington, Vermont, and Tiffany Grace Hlavenka of Robinson; two grandsons, William T. (Tommy) Hlavenka of Robinson and James Peyton Pfleiderer of Leroy; two sisters, Marilyn Beltz and husband Sam of Marion, Ohio, and Sharon Evans and husband Francis of Kilbourne, Ohio; a brother, John Pfleiderer of Delaware, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Lemley and husband Jerry of Vienna, West Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Clyde Worrell, T.J. Watson, Richard Kusler, Gary Wines, David Wines, and David White. Memorials may be made to The Leroy Church Building Fund.
