William L. "Bill" Beaubien, age 78, of West, passed away Wednesday morning, August 9, 2006 at a Waco nursing home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Axtell Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Bill was born March 11, 1928 in near Durant, Oklahoma the son of William Houston and Nellie (Everett) Beaubien. He attended schools in Blue, Oklahoma and was a graduate of Blue High School. On June 9, 1951 he was united in marriage to Joyce Harkins in San Angelo. He served his country with the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict before retiring in 1968. He then became Computer Operations Manager for the Department of Human Resources for the State of Texas for many years. Upon moving to the central Texas area, he then worked at Behren's Drug, taught at Texas State Technical College for several years, and was a computer specialist for Hillcrest Hospital before working for West Furniture Company and Aderhold Funeral Home. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in West where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the West Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed playing golf and loved spending time with his family. His parents; and three brothers, Leonard Beaubien, Kenyon Beaubien, and Dwayne Beaubien; all preceded him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Joyce Beaubien of West; two sons, Gary Beaubien and Alan Beaubien and his wife Susan, all of Austin; a granddaughter, Amie Beaubien and her half brother, Christopher Garcia; three brothers, Larry Beaubien and wife Toni of Denison, Doyle Beaubien and wife Wanda and Keith Beaubien and wife Regina, all of Durant, OK; three sisters, Vanitia Cook and husband John of Combine, Sandra Duncan and Elaine McGehee and husband Troy all of Durant, OK; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the West Ambulance Association.
