William Bill Dokupil

William "Bill" Dokupil, age 81, of West, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2016 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Boniface Onjefu as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. Bill was born September 26, 1934 in Burlington, the son of W.F. and Angela (Ermis) Dokupil. He was a 1952 graduate of Rosebud High School. He served his country with the United States Army and Texas National Guard. On May 6, 1961 he was united in marriage to Mildred Soukup in West. Bill worked for Citizens Bank in Cameron and Norwest Bank in Waco for 38 years before retiring in 1998. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Bill was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305, American Legion Post #478, Waco Lion's Club and a founding member of the Czech Folk Dancers. He was an associate director for Westfest. Bill enjoyed traveling to the Czech Republic to visit his grandfather's family in Halenkov, snow skiing in Colorado, dancing, singing in the polka choir, farming at heart, gardening and many other outdoor activities He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas A&M Aggies and Baylor Bears. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Msgr. Edward Dokupil and Bob Dokupil. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Mildred Dokupil of West; a son, David Dokupil and wife Leigh Ann of West; daughters, Kariann Perry and husband Ben of Woodway and Kristi Herridge and husband Jeff of Austin; grandchildren, Kaydi and Jill Perry, Brady and Bria Dokupil and Evan Herridge; brothers, Charles Dokupil and wife Ann and Tom Dokupil and wife Debbie; a sister, Rosalee Wilkinson and husband George; sisters-in-law, Grace Dokupil and Ruddie Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Ben Perry, Jeff Herridge, Daniel Anderson, Darin Anderson, Brady Dokupil, Michael Dokupil and Jacinto Tubbs. Honorary pallbearers are Evan Herridge, Scott Felton, Billy Muese, Glen Bucannan, Charles Lewis, Flo Beaver, Beth Austin and Alfred Schneider. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery Association.
