Wesley Hoot Franks

Wesley "Hoot" Franks, age 87, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, October 13, 2012 at the Groesbeck LTC Nursing Center in Groesbeck. No public services will be held. Mr. Franks was born May 6, 1925 in Peacock, the son of Ed and Myrtle Dixie (Woodall) Franks. He attended schools in Peacock prior to the family moving to Waco, where he attended the Waco Academy. On April 22, 1944 he was united in marriage to Patsy Jean Darwin in Waco. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2007. He served his country with the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. Wesley was a Firefighter for the Waco Fire Department for over 33 years before retiring at the rank of Lieutenant. Wesley is also preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Franks. Survivors include two sons, James Wesley Franks and wife Kristina of Waco and William E. "Bill" Franks of West; a daughter, Carol Hamilton and husband Steve of Mart; brother, Charles Franks; sisters, Cleo Thompson, Dixie Donaldson and Mary Sims; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
