Wesley Bankston

Beloved father, husband and friend, Wesley Eugene Bankston passed away July 12, 2023, in Dallas.

Born on June 28, 1941, in West to Opal and Oran Bankston, Wesley attended West Schools and graduated from West High School in 1959. At WHS Wesley was captain of the West Trojan football team, was a leader on the basketball team and in student government.

Wesley attended the University of North Texas, but his life-long dream was to graduate and receive his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. Even with his experience as a successful businessman Wesley pursued his dream and received his MBA from SMU’s prestigious Cox School of Business in 1985.

On April 3, 1969, Wesley married Carleen Roberson and in 1971, they welcomed their son Brian. After Carleen’s death in 2011, Wesley later moved back to Texas from California and re-connected with his high school sweetheart Betty Mashek Ingram. They married in December 2013. He and Brian enjoyed sharing good times and holidays with Betty’s children and grandchildren.

Wesley leaves behind his son Brian Bankston of Allen, his wife, Betty Bankston and family of Dallas, and a brother Rodney Bankston of Bruceville-Eddy.

Memorial Graveside Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Bold Springs Cemetery near West.
