Wayne Safley

Wayne Mitchell Safley, age 91, of Gholson, passed away late Monday evening, September 23, 2024 at his residence.

Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Gholson Cemetery, with Rev. John Woodard officiating.

Wayne was born December 14, 1932 in Belton, the son of Robert and Allene (Oliver) Safley. He attended schools in Belton, Rogers, Durango and Arizona. On January 18, 1957 he was united in marriage to Juanda Fe Robinson in Belton. Juanda preceded him in death on January 18, 2022. Wayne was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson. He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Plant in Waco for 34 years before retiring in 1994. Wayne enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known to be an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Wayne is also preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Kristopher Safley.

Survivors include his a daughter, Dona Fe Myers of Waco; a son, Robert "Bobby" Wayne Safley of Gholson; his granddaughters, Shaylah Rae Enge and husband Erik, Brean Childress, and Kristina Safley and Bryan Flynn; a great grandson, Eric Lucas Enge; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson.
