Wayne Money

August 30, 1932 — July 19, 2017

Wayne Money, age 84, of West, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 19, 2017 at Poet's Walk in Round Rock. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in West, with Rev. Todd Ewing and Michael Simmons officiating. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Sunday at Barstow Cemetery near Pecos, TX. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Wayne was born August 30, 1932 in Matoy, Oklahoma, the son of Jesse and Clara (Scalf) Money. He was raised in Matoy, attended school there and was a 1949 graduate of Matoy High School. Wayne received a degree in education from Southeastern Oklahoma State in 1953 and his masters degree from Baylor University in 1974. He served his country with the United States Air Force. Wayne was united in marriage to Margaret Riley on May 18, 1956 in Carlsbad, NM. Margaret preceded him in death on June 19, 2001. Wayne was then united in marriage to Joyce (Stewart) Miller on March 7, 2011 in Las Vegas, NV. Wayne was a lifelong educator, serving at many schools including, Barstow, West, Gholson, Fayetteville and Brookhaven Boys Ranch. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aquilla. Wayne enjoyed fishing, working outdoors and reading Louis L'Amour novels. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks and Baylor Women's Basketball. Wayne loved children, whether being a teacher, coach or superintendent, the care, support and education of his "kids" was his number one goal. He spoke of his students to the end and loved hearing and from many of them. Wayne loved his family with all of his heart. He was devoted to both Margaret and later Joyce and to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also close to his siblings and their families and the Riley and Miller families. So many were blessed by his love and good deeds. Most of all he loved his God and his life reflected that. One of his familys greatest memories was of his prayers at family gatherings. Wayne is also preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters, Sandra Gwen and Pamela Kay Money; brothers, Parnell Money, Coy Money, Troy Money and N.B. Money; and sisters, Lucille Isbell and Florence Money. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Miller Money of Aquilla; children, Roxanne Balusek and husband Dewayne of Round Rock, Darla Braun of Allen and Tim Money of Rockwall; step children, Sheila Simmons and husband Michael, Cindy Lockett and husband Tim and Pam Clepper and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Brooke Hailey, Amber Koepke and husband Joey, Cassie Braun, Christina Money and husband Brandon, Mack Wood and wife Rachel, and Julius Jackson; great grandchildren, Ford, Hayes, Dylan, Denver and Imogen; sisters; Ollie Gardner and Eugenia Netick and many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Rudy Money, Joel Money, Dillon Duff, Michael Simmons, Tim Lockett and Jerry Clepper. Honorary pallbearers are James "Shorty" Harkins and Weldon Wright. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Aquilla or to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
