Wanda (Smith) Alexander, age 76 of Ross, passed away early Saturday afternoon, January 2, 2010 at St. Catherine's Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. James Stevens and Rev. Brad Moore officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Wanda was born April 25, 1933 in Hamlin, the daughter of Roy and Lela Sue Smith. She graduated from McGregor High School in 1951 and on December 6, 1952, she was united in marriage to Frank Alexander in Waco. Wanda worked as a homemaker and accepted the Lord at an early age. She was a musician and played the organ for Tokio Baptist Church, Gateway Baptist Church, and Gholson Baptist Church. She also enjoyed baking and spending time with her family. She was also a member of Gholson Baptist Church for many years. Survivors include her beloved husband of fifty-seven years, Frank Alexander of Ross; three sons, Alan Alexander and wife Dana of Whitney, Gene Alexander and wife Rhonda of Grapevine, and Carl Alexander of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Dee Ann Hubbs and husband Mike of Arlington; three brothers, Roy Smith, Jr. and wife Janet of Austin, Ray Smith and wife Jamie of Waco, and Robert Smith of Abilene; five sisters, Nellie Lawson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pat Mistler and husband John of Tuscon, Arizona, Lanetia Gayden and husband Bob of Dallas, Lynda O'Rear and husband Jerry of Salado, and Mary Valentino and husband Pete of Calhoun, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Richard Alexander, Kelli Wicks, Gina Seymour, Jill Daniel and husband Jordan, Katie Alexander, Amy Hubbs, and Carlee Alexander; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Marilyn, Gage, and Summer Rose; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Alan Alexander, Gene Alexander, Carl Alexander, Mike Hubbs, Raymond Smith, Roy Smith, Bob Smith, and Steve Vaughan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gholson Baptist Church Building Fund. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Anderson and staff for their care during her long battle with cancer and all the wonderful nurses at St. Catherine's hospice.
