Wanda Brown

August 5, 1941 — November 3, 2022

Wanda Faye Brown, age 81, of West, passed away late Thursday morning, November 3, 2022 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro.


Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2022 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Minister Ernie Albrecht officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Wanda was born August 5, 1941 in Ft. Worth, the daughter of Paul and Ethel (Taylor) Lisby. She attended school at Diamond Hills in Ft. Worth. On March 30, 1957 she was united in marriage to Bernard Charlie Brown in Ft. Worth. Charlie preceded her in death on January 31, 2008. Wanda was a member of West Church of Christ. She worked for several area businesses including Woods Manufacturing, Lorch Manufacturing, and Dairy Queen for many years. Wanda enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cleaning, visiting with her many friends, tending to her flowers, and reading her Bible daily. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.


Wanda is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charlie Brown; a granddaughter, Jamie Nicole Chudej; a sister, Linda Miller; a brother, Donald Lisby; and a sister-in-law, Kay Hazlewood.


Survivors include her children, Roger Brown and Brenda Butcher and her husband Curtis, all of Aquilla; her grandchildren, Natasha and Jeff Dunagan, Lacie Brown, Alaina and Shane Lander, Kamrye Brown, Taylor Dudik, and Isaac Butcher; her great grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan, and Jillian Dunagan, BrenLe Dudik, and Bruce and Lucy Lander; a twin sister, Beverly Owen; a brother, Ronald Lisby and his wife Debbie; two daughters-in-law, Teresa Brown and Michelda Brown; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her special nephew, neighbor and best friend who lovingly and selflessly cared for her the past 12 years, Michael Hazlewood.


Active pallbearers are Steve Miller, Brandon Reese, Ryder Reese, Shane Lander, Larry Sonnenberg, and Jeff Dunagan. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Owen, David Owen, Michael Hazlewood, and Isaac Butcher.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Rock Cemetery Association or the West Church of Christ.
