Virginia "Dina" (Moucka) Nemecek, age 92, of Austin, passed away early Saturday morning, November 6, 2010 at Parson's House in Austin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Virginia was born on October 8, 1918 in Ennis, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Sedivy) Moucka. She attended school in Ennis and graduated from West High School. On February 15, 1939, she was united in marriage to Alfred "Fritz" Nemecek in West. She was a homemaker and also worked as bookkeeper until her retirement. Virginia was a faithful member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, where she was active in the Altar Society, Mother's Club and a Study Guild. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, having made most of her five daughters clothing. She was also a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge # 36, and K.J.Z.T. Society #133 in McAllen. She enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alfred Moucka and Eric Moucka; and two sisters, Alice Kopecky and Lida Zaludek. Survivors include her beloved husband of 71 years, Alfred R. Nemecek of Austin; a son, Fred Nemecek of Austin; five daughters, Dianne Conner and husband Phillip of Austin, Freda Thomas of Slidell, Louisiana, Rosemary Roseland and husband Joe of Mission, Karen Nemecek and husband Lane Ply of Elfin Cove, Alaska, and Nancy Dennis and husband Tim of Austin; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Charles Conner, Phillip Conner, Shawn Hughes, David Roseland, Frank Thomas, and Scott Thomas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the San Juan Diego Catholic Regional High School Project Office, P.O. Box 2347, McAllen, Texas. 78502-2347, or the charity of your choice.
