Virginia Louise (Valigura) Muehlstein, age 83, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 in Abbott. She passed peacefully, comforted by her loving family.
A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Thomas Jones as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery in Abbott.
Virginia was born September 3, 1940 in Dallas, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Slovak) Valigura. She found her soulmate in Edward Muehlstein, Jr and the two were united happily in marriage on October 10, 1959. They were inseparable for 62 years. Virginia went on to study cosmetology at Hill Junior College and later returned to expand her education with a degree in teaching. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott.
Virginia's life was defined by her unyielding commitment to her loved ones and family. She was a pillar of strength and a wellspring of love for her four children. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support were a constant source of inspiration for all of them. As a grandmother, Virginia was known affectionately as "Grammy" to her grandchildren, who adored her. She shared her wisdom , stories, and laughter with them, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Her passion and dedication for sewing, crafts, and cooking brought her immense joy, especially when shared by her loved ones. Many remember her fondly as having a tremendous sweet-tooth that mirrored her enthusiasm for life's sweet and simple pleasures. Virginia's profound love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and her impact on their lives was immeasurable.
Virginia is preceded in death by her beloved husband and life partner, Edward Joseph Muehlstein, Jr.; her parents; a daughter, Eugenia Muehlstein; and sisters, Anna Maye Zaidle, Janie Burgess, Gloria Batte, Mary King, Eugenia Valigura, Pauline Vrana, and Ruby Gerling.
Survivors include her children, Monica Muehlstein of Abbott, Jeffrey Muehlstein and wife Sherri of Abbott, Eddie Muehlstein and wife Netta of Nashville, TN, and Cindy Betik and husband John of Bryan; eleven grandchildren, Beth Martinson and husband Jace, Jamie Beauchamp, Charla Reeves and husband Cody, Nathan Muehlstein and wife Kodie, Ethan Muehlstein, Christopher Betik and wife Sadie, Brittany Horvat and husband Alex, Kristy Watson, Christopher Osborn, Shae Wiltse and husband Nathan, and Dusty Osborn; great grandchildren, Paizlee, Wyatt, Karter, Charlee, Cole, Ty, Jeffrey, Gregory, Faith, Kylie, Laci, Khloe, and Nathan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Nathan Muehlstein, Cody Reeves, Ethan Muehlstein, Christopher Betik, Alex Horvat, Dusty Osborn, Josh Zapletal, and Jay Woods.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
