Virginia Marek, age 85, of West, passed away early Monday morning, November 18, 2013 in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Boniface Onjefu as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Virginia was born July 5, 1928 in West, the daughter of Walter J. and Aileen (Mudrick) Barak. She was a graduate of West High School. On October 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Edward J. Marek in West. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1999. Virginia was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Virginia was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and loved gardening, canning, listening to Czech music and taking family trips. She especially loved to spend time with her family. Virginia is also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Frankie, Edward D., Larry, William, Joseph and John Marek; and brother, Lawrence Barak. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Stone and husband Clint of Axtell, Margaret Schroeder and husband Rick of Tours, and Teresa Kramolis and husband Mike of China Spring; a brother, Gerald Barak; two granddaughters, Krystal Luedecke and husband Ryan, and Marisa Kramolis; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund or to the charity of your choice.
