Virgia R. Mccarty

Virgia R. McCarty, age 88, of West, passed away early Thursday morning, October 29, 2015 at Lakeshore Village in Waco. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2015 at Prairie Grove Cemetery near Aquilla, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Virgia was born January 7, 1927 in Houston, the daughter of Soloman and Dora Mae (Sanders) Earnest. She attended schools in Houston. On January 30, 1946 she was united in marriage to Clyde W. "Cowboy" McCarty in Houston. Clyde preceded her in death on March 11, 1994. Virgia was a seamstress for over 20 years working for Wood Manufacturing in Hillsboro and Lorch Manufacturing and Wolfe Manufacturing in West, before retiring in 1992. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in West. Virgia enjoyed sewing, dancing, fishing and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family. Virgia is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence Earnest and Tommy Earnest; and a sister, Florence Montgomery. Survivors include her children, Glen McCarty of West and Pat McFarland and husband Allan of West; a sister, Ardell Hawkins; grandchildren, JoAnna "Dawn" Picha, Jesse C. Barnett and wife Theresa, Amber Atkinson and husband Alex, Brandon McFarland and Debbie Ferrell; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
