Viola "Tootsie" Pogue, age 92, of Gholson, passed away late Wednesday morning, February 6, 2008 at her residence. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Gholson Cemetery with Rev. Billy Mack Patteson officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Pogue was born April 16, 1915 in San Antonio, the daughter of William and Elsie (Piper) Shaw. She was a 1932 graduate of Marfa High School. On May 9, 1935 she was united in marriage to William Bradley Pogue in Alpine. He preceded her in death. Viola was a housewife and homemaker. She was a faithful member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson. Viola is also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Evelyn Myers. Survivors include a son, Bradley W. Pogue and his wife Betty of Gholson; a daughter, Darlene Baker and husband Charles of Winston, NM; six grandchildren, Bradley Pogue Jr., Michael Pogue and wife Michelle, Roger Pogue and wife Teresa, Sheryl Reid and husband Scott, Tammie Charlene Kennedy, and William Charles Baker; seven great grandchildren, Brian Pogue, Connor Pogue, Brandon Pogue, Haley Pogue, Elizabeth Reid, Ashley Baker, and Nathan Baker; a niece, Gay Gamble; and several other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are her grandsons and great grandsons. Memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
