Viola Anne Buzbee

Viola Anne Neumann Buzbee, age 77, of Gholson, passed away late Thursday afternoon, January 1, 2009 at her residence, surrounded by her family and husband, J.W. Buzbee. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson, with Rev. Ann Hitt officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Mrs. Buzbee was born on March 27, 1931 in Falls County, the only daughter of Walter and Dora (Federwisch) Neumann. She attended St. Paul School and McLennan Community College. On October 30, 1947, she was united in marriage to James Woodrow (J. W.) Buzbee in Marlin. During 1959, her family moved to Gholson, where she resided until her death. Mr. and Mrs. Buzbee founded Buzbee Feed and Seed, where she worked as the bookkeeper. Viola was a constant companion to her husband, whether he was dairy farming or working in the family business. She enjoyed cooking large meals for her family and derived great pleasure from making cakes, cookies, and pies for her family and friends. Viola was always eager to cook for community and church events and during the early years of their marriage, Viola taught her husband to dance and they shared that as a leisure activity. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and tending to farm animals, along with her husband. Viola also known as "Nanny", was a mentor to her grandchildren and a strong leader of her family. She has given everyone, from her children down to her great-grandchildren, wonderful memories to cherish for many years to come. God was always with her and a very important part of her life. Viola was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Freddie Neumann. Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, J.W. Buzbee of Gholson; four sons, James Buzbee and wife Jana of Aquilla, Joe Buzbee and wife Cindy, Tom Buzbee and wife Peggy, and Terry Buzbee and wife Sonja, all of Gholson; two daughters, Leona Argo and husband Richard and Linda Buzbee, all of Gholson; three brothers, Raymond Carey and wife Paula and Jimmy Carey, all of Waco, and Wayne Neumann and wife Beverly of Mansfield; one sister, Bonnie Carey of Waco; twelve grandchildren, Lisa Davis, Rob Saunders, Trey Buzbee, Brant Buzbee, Shanna Buzbee, Shari Page, Roxanne Buzbee, Tamara Buzbee, Justin Buzbee, Jody Buzbee, Cody Rieger, and Cady Rieger; seven great-grandchildren, Jason Phillips, Jasmine Phillips, Kylei Rieger, Landa Rieger, Rylee Page, Bayden Buzbee, Kolton Buzbee, and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Active pallbearers will be Trey Buzbee, Brant Buzbee, Rob Saunders, Justin Buzbee, Jody Buzbee, Cody Rieger, and Randy Roddy, Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Davis, Jason Phillips, Tim Page, Bayden Buzbee, and Kolton Buzbee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, or the American Cancer Society.
