Victoria Pavlas

Victoria Louise Pavlas, age 82, of Richmond, passed away late Monday morning, July 24, 2006 at Richmond Health Care. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott with Rev. Vincent Chacko, IMS as celebrant. Victoria's final resting-place will be next to her beloved husband and love of her life, Emmerick Pavlas at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Pavlas was born on September 4, 1923 in Cameron, the daughter of Herman and Josephine (Hollace) Sutter. She attended Cameron schools and was a graduate of Cameron High School. She was united in marriage to Emmerick Pavlas in St. Charles, LA. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1966. Victoria attended Providence Nursing School and received her degree as a registered nurse. After graduating from nursing school, she worked for the Waco Veterans Administration Hospital for a short time and then became the Night Supervisor for the Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital, serving there for many years before retiring in 1990. Victoria loved being with family and friends and enjoyed listening to music of all types. Victoria brought a smile and was a ray of sunshine for all that knew her. She was a former member of St. Louis Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco and a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge. Her parents; a brother, Cornelius Sutter; and a sister, Agnes Hogan; also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Emmerick "Rick" Pavlas, Jr. of Saudi Arabia; two daughters, Frances McBride and her husband J.R. of Richmond and Grace Gilstrap of Hewitt; five grandchildren, Emmerick Pavlas III, Diane Ridings, Stephen Pavlas, Shawna Gilstrap, and Anthony Gilstrap; six great-grandchildren, Collin, Conner, Austin, Evelyn, Christopher, and Victoria; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Stephen Pavlas, Gene Gilstrap, Tony Gilstrap, J.R. McBride and Dwayne Rangel. Memorials may be made to the charity of you choice.
