Vernon H. Krueger, age 78, of West, passed away early Friday morning, May 28, 2010 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy, with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Krueger was born on October 31, 1931 in Malone, the son of Louis F. and Minnie (Huse) Krueger. He attended school in Malone. On November 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Wiese in Malone. She preceded him in death on August 3, 1983. Vernon worked for over thirty-eight years at the West Flour Mill until his retirement in 1989. He also worked as a farmer and for the Burlington Cotton Mill in West. Vernon loved visiting and spending time with his family and friends, especially on the weekends. He enjoyed fishing and working in the garden. He was a member of First United Church of West. Vernon is also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Krueger, who passed away on February 26, 2000; four brothers, Walter Krueger, Alvin Krueger, Henry Krueger and Edward Krueger; and four sisters, Bertha Kruger, Mae Hill, Esther Kruger and Amanda Kochuba. Survivors include two sons, Michael Krueger and wife Margie of West and Gary Krueger and wife Michele of Valley Mills; a sister, Leona Allen of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and manyl nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Church of West.
