Ulen H. Roberts

Ulen H. Roberts, age 87, of Gholson, passed away late Friday evening, June 8, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Gholson with Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Ulen was born September 13, 1930 in Ada, Oklahoma the son of Clyde and Hazel (May) Roberts. He was a 1950 graduate of Crozier Technical High School in Dallas and attended Arlington State Junior College. On February 2, 1951 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Odom in Dallas. Ulen was an Electrical Engineer for Texas Instruments in Dallas for over 36 years before retiring in 1991. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Gholson where he served as a Deacon. Ulen was also a Mason. He enjoyed photography, fishing, basketball, playing golf and taking family trips. Ulen is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Roberts; and brothers, Melvin Roberts and Donald Roberts. Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy Roberts of Gholson; a daughter, Lynn Rose and husband David of Dallas; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Roberts of Gholson; sisters, Juanita Tucker, Betty Culpepper and Sandra LeFlore; adopted family, Vivian Gafford and her children, Boo Gafford and Laura Smith; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Corbet Turner, Larry Plaa, Boo Gafford, Geoff Smith, Brian Roberts and Jimmy Don Rich. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Rich, Russell Smith and the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Gholson.
