Timothy Lynn Gerik

Timothy Lynn Gerik, age 49, of Aquilla, passed away late Tuesday morning, January 6, 2009, at his residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 3:00 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. B. George as celebrants. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Tim was born on August 29, 1959 in Waco, the son of Jerry and Irene (Muehlstein) Gerik. He graduated from Aquilla High School and attended Texas State Technical College. He worked in the agriculture business for Gerik Farms and G & P Seed Company in Aquilla. Tim was an avid Texas Longhorn Fan and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, the West Knight of Columbus Council #2305, and Abbott K.J.T. Society #107. Tim is preceded in death by his mother, Irene Gerik; grandparents, Emil and Mary Gerik and Ed and Annie Muehlstein; and his brother-in-law, Ernie Janek. Survivors include his father, Jerry Gerik, Sr. and wife Martha of Aquilla; four brothers, Dennis Gerik and wife Linda, Jerry Gerik, Jr. and wife Denise, and Ron Gerik and wife Marsha, all of Aquilla, and Jimmy Gerik and wife Martha of Reedley, CA; two sisters, Deborah Janek of Aquilla and Kathy Hill and husband Rick of Burleson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are his nephews, Christopher Janek, Kevin Janek, Jason Janek, John David Janek, John Gerik, Paul Gerik, Ronnie Joe Gerik, Jacob Gerik, Zachary Gerik, Joshua Gerik, Daniel Hill, and Michael Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Knights of Columbus Council #2305 or Hillcrest Community Hospice.
