Tim Jaska, age 79, of Ross, passed away late Sunday afternoon, September 4, 2022 at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. next Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Tim was born April 11, 1943 in Waco, the son of Edward and Lavonia (Jones) Jaska. He attended school in Ross and was a 1961 graduate of West High School. Tim was a 1965 graduate of Baylor University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and then graduated from Tarleton University in Stephenville with a Master's Degree in Education Administration. On October 23, 1971 he was united in marriage to Marsha Bryant in Waco. Marsha preceded him in death on February 10, 2007. Tim worked for State National Bank of West for over 30 years until his retirement in 2020. Prior to that, he also worked as a basketball coach, elementary school teacher and was a principal for the Gholson Independent School District and a elementary school teacher for the Connally Independent School District. Tim was an avid fan of the Baylor Lady Bears Basketball Team, loved reading, traveling with his wife before she passed away, and was interested in agriculture, farming, sprigging. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandson, great grandsons and nephews. Tim was a member of First Baptist Church in Waco. He was also a member of West Kiwanis Club where he served as longtime treasurer, White Rock Cemetery Association where he served as current President, the Baylor Bear Foundation, and the 2013 West Explosion Disaster Committee. He was always generous and active in his community and surrounding schools in the area.
Tim is also preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, KP Bryant; and his son, Grant Thomas Jaska.
Survivors include his son, Bryan Jaska and wife Lisa of Waco; his favorite mother-in-law, Careta Bryant; brothers, Rick Jaska and Jim Jaska and wife Mary Jo; grandson, Donovan Moorefield and wife Marissa; great grandsons, Lincoln and Lawson; nephews, Jimmy Jaska and Joey Jaska and wife Merideth; and many other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donovan Moorefield, Joey Jaska, Jimmy Jaska, Pat Jaska, Craig Lawhorn, Bruce Lawhorn, Horace Beard and Mike Beard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Kiwanis Club or the White Rock Cemetery Association.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at West Rest Haven for their love and care shown to Tim during his stay at the nursing home and to the ICU nurses for their professional and compassionate care.
