Theola Mitchell

Theola Mitchell, age 80, of West, formerly of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday evening, November 29, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Bold Springs Baptist Church in West, with Rev. W.C. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Gholson. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mrs. Mitchell was born February 20, 1932 near West, the daughter of Mattie (Taylor) and Frank Mitchell, Sr. She was a 1949 graduate of Dunbar High School in West prior to attended Paul Quinn College in Waco. While living in Las Vegas, Theola worked for the local Outlet Mall and the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the Bold Springs Baptist Church in West. Theola enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, and visiting with people. She especially loved a good Big Red Float and chocolate. She never met a stranger. Theola is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Mitchell Jr.; nephew, and Dwight Johnson. Survivors include a son, Delbert Whittington Jr. and wife Debbie of Las Vegas; brother, Norman Mitchell and wife Delores of Waco and Emanuel Mitchell Sr and wife Mabel of Las Vegas; sister, Novyce Johnson and husband Billy of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Delbert L. Whittington III and Geneva Whittington; great grandchildren, Logan, Lawson and London; many nieces and nephews, including a very devoted nephew, Emanuel Mitchell Jr.; and numerous other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Cameron McCreary, Troy Graves, Glenn Cashaw, Tyrone Stewart, Lynn McGruder, Wilford Johnson, and Robert Benford. Honorary pallbearers are her nephews and the Deacons of Bold Springs Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Memorial Fund.
