Thelma Cash, age 97, of West, passed away early Thursday morning, September 29, 2016 at West Rest Haven in West. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. The family will also receive visitors 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Pharr Funeral Home in Hope, AR with graveside services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Thelma was born April 22, 1919 near the community of Homewood in Forest, MS, the daughter of Lee and Lula (Robinson) Horsley. She grew up in Mississippi and Louisiana. After graduating from high school, she completed nurses training in Shreveport, LA and became a Registered Nurse after graduation. On November 22, 1941 she was united in marriage to Sidney Cash in Bossier Parish, LA. Sidney preceded her in death on August 26, 2008. To this union they had two sons, Robert and Billy. After Sidney was discharged from the U.S. Navy they settled in Emmett, AR later moving to Hope, AR. In 1969 they moved to Waco, TX where Thelma worked for many years at Providence Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marlin. They retired back to the family farm in Hope in 1984 before returning to Texas in 2003 to be near their son. She enjoyed gardening and packing their travel trailer and traveling around the country, visiting family and seeing the country. Thelma is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leroy Horsley; and sisters, Ailene Wilson and Annie Mae Stewart. Survivors include her sons, Robert Lee Cash and wife Janet of Madison, AL and Billy Earl Cash and wife Rosi of Waco; grandsons, Michael Cash, Anthony Cash, and Jeremy Cash and wife Allison; great grandchildren, Tristan and Alexis; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Michael Cash, Anthony Cash, Jeremy Cash. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Artie Sudan, Dr. George Smith and the staff of West Rest Haven, who provided excellent care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund.
