Tant Horn, age 86, of West passed away early Monday morning, August 13, 2007 at West Rest Haven. Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Jackson officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Gerald Cemetery conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Horn was born February 26, 1921 in Phoenix, Arizona the son of Harmon L. and Sarah (Casey) Horn. After his family moved to Texas he attended Crossroads School in Eastland County. He then served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. On February 10, 1952 he was united in marriage to Clara Mae Nichols in Waco. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2002 following their 50th Wedding Anniversary. He was employed by General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for 32 years before retiring in 1982, as well as being an active member of the United Rubber Workers Local Union #312. Tant also enjoyed farming and ranching in McLennan and Limestone Counties, hunting and gardening on his farm where he would share the harvest with his family and friends. He especially loved his grandchildren and spending time with his family. As a resident of West Rest Haven he took the time to attend all church services of any denomination and thought highly of all the ministers. His parents and three brothers, Jim Buchanan Horn, Herman Horn, and Roy Horn, also preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Tancy Clarissa Horn-Johnson and husband Carl of Waco; two sons, Jeffrey Frank Horn and wife Christine of West and Gregory Tant Horn and wife Jackie of Elmendorf; a brother, Clarence Horn and wife Carolyn of Lake Leon; three sisters, Anna Dale Gibbs of West, Betty Jo Foster of Elk, and Sarah Lucretia Brown and husband Len of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren, Kira Leigh, Ari Tant, Eli Howard, Brittany Lynne, Westin Patrick Tant, Jace Nicholas, Jordan Elaine, Bailey Christian Tant, Audrey, Amanda, Tim, and Melissa; several great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Ari Tant Loiben, Westin Patrick Tant Horn, Eli Howard Loiben, Jace Nicholas Horn, Buchanan John Uptmore, and Bailey Christian Tant Horn. Honorary pallbearers will be In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Activity Fund.
