Steve McKeown, age 53, of Gholson, passed away late Thursday night, June 11, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near West. A memorial visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Strickly, 788 T M West Parkway in West. Steve was born August 15, 1955 in Midland, the son of Grady McKeown and Katie (Benton) Boddie. He attended schools in Irving. Steve was a meat cutter and worked for Chapman's Grocery Store, Ross Truck Stop, and Carl's Corner Truck Stop. He was currently a cook for KD's Steakhouse in West. Steve enjoyed going to the lake, fishing, dancing, and especially loved his dog Odis. He was known as everyone's best friend and was always joking around. Steve also loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his mother Katie Boddie and husband Perry of Bennington, OK; his father, Grady McKeown and wife Lela of Farmington, NM; two sisters, Paula Hicks and husband James of Bennington, OK and Linda McKeown of San Angelo; two step-brothers, Drew Boddie and wife Deborah of Bonham and Daniel Boddie of Ft. Worth; five nephews, Allen Hicks, Jeremy Johnson and wife Misty, Steven Hicks, J. R. Hicks and wife Ruth, and Christopher Boddie; seven great-nieces; two great-nephews; and many other relatives and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
