Steve Kalina

Steve Kalina, age 66, of Ross, passed away late Saturday afternoon, November 11, 2023 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waco.

A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at St. Martin's Catholic Church, with Rev. Walter Dhanwar as celebrant. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross.

Steve was born July 10, 1957 in Waco, the son of Sidney and Elizabeth (Gleich) Kalina. He attended West schools and was a 1975 graduate of West High School. On September 15, 1979 he was united in marriage to Cindy in Tours. He was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. He was also a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #529 in Waco and the Masonic Lodge. He was a pipefitter for Brandt Engineering in Waco for over 5 years before retiring in 2019. He worked for several other firms including, GMSI in Waco and Lilja Corporation in Oklahoma. Steve loved cowboy and ranch life and worked for the Alford Cattle Company in Caldwell and Van Horn. He enjoyed attending family reunions, camping, riding horses, team roping, hunting, fishing, and watching the Cowboy Channel and RFDTV. Steve was also known for "bs"-ing and making the rounds with his friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters who really made him "light up".

Steve is preceded in death by parents and a niece, Melissa Edmonds.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Cindy Kalina of Ross; a son, Shawn Kalina and wife Ashlee of Ross; his granddaughters who called him "Chapo", Suade and Shalee Kalina; his brothers and sisters, Greg Kalina and wife Dianna, Theresa Dudik and husband Eugene, Duane Kalina and wife Robin, Tommy Kalina and wife Selena, Chris Kalina and wife Denise, and Jeanette Browder and husband Brian; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Troy Willenborg, Cody Long, Luke Price, Alex Mynarcik, Justin Hykel, J.D. Jaster, Larry Lassetter, Dale Burnham, George Crawshaw, Rocky Charanza, Junior Reiger, and Gary Snokhous.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ross Volunteer Fire Department or the Working Ranch Cowboy Association Foundation .
