Stephen "Steve" Harlow, age 74, of Rockwall, passed away Friday morning, August 16, 2024 at his residence.
Rosary followed by Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Steve will lie-in-state from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Steve was born July 26, 1950 in Waco, the son of Raymond and Mary "Mozelle" (Cotten) Harlow. He was a 1968 graduate Richfield High School. Steve then attended McLennan Community College, Baylor University, and Edison State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology. He earned a Master's Degree in Business Management from Amber University, and a PhD in Clinical Laboratory Science from Columbia University. On August 9, 1975 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Snapka in Abbott. They later moved to Rockwall and became members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Steve also was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #9337 in Rockwall, and a past member of American Chemical Society and American Society for Clinical Pathology. He worked as a Clinical Laboratory Consultant for 45 years where he managed laboratory operations in hospitals and research labs. Steve enjoyed fishing, cooking, and working on old muscle cars. He loved music and had an appreciation of many different genres. Steve was very artistic and enjoyed creating homemade birthday cards for his grandchildren and cherished spending time with his family. He was very supportive of their interests and encouraged them to use their God-given talents. Steve will truly be missed by all.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Ernest and Anna Mae Snapka; brothers-in-law, Richard Snapka, and Eugene Snapka; and an infant granddaughter, Mae Caroline Krell.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Carolyn Harlow of Rockwall; two children, Joy English and husband Kevin of Caddo Mills, and Jana Krell and husband Gabe of Castle Pines, CO; six grandchildren, Hannah English, Lily English, Barrett Krell, Henley Krell, Graeme Krell, and Cameron Krell; brother-in-law, Ernest Snapka, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Toni Snapka, and Kathy Pustejovsky; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Kevin English, Gabe Krell, Demetrius Hilario, Dale Snapka, Ron Snapka and Steve Pustejovsky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Texas Food Bank, 3677 Mapleshade Lane, Plano, Texas 75075.
