Stasie F. (Jaska) Janek, age 94, of West, passed away early Friday morning, June 7, 2013 in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 2:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Boniface Onjefu as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Stasie was born March 7, 1919 near West, one of 11 children born to Moravian immigrants, Joseph C. and Anastazie (Hejl) Jaska. She attended schools in West and graduated from West High School in 1937, prior to attending 4-C Business College in Waco. On February 22, 1943 she was united in marriage to Louis R. Janek Sr. in West. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1997. Stasie worked for the Hub Clothing Store in Waco and the Jaska family grocery in Ross. She was a lifelong faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where she was a founding member of P.T.C. Choir. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, McLennan/Hill County Czech Heritage Society, the Ross Home Demonstration Club, and the West Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 Ladies Auxiliary. Stasie enjoyed visiting with her relatives, gardening, tending her flowers, crocheting, embroidering, quilting, bird watching, reading, traveling, playing bingo, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She was especially known for her apple strudels and faithfully praying the rosary. Stasie is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Jaska, Edward Jaska, Robert Jaska, Ernest "Bobo" Jaska and two infant brothers; sisters, Agnes Lednicky, Bess Hlavaty and Mary King. Survivors include three sons, Louis R. Janek Jr. of West, Robert "Bobby Joe" Janek and Jonathan "Tiger" Janek and wife Susan, all of Austin; three daughters, Veronica "Nica" Eckols and husband Shelby of Driftwood, Stasie Cocek and husband Al of Houston and Stephanie "Tappy" Vanek and husband Allen of West; a brother, Louis B. Jaska; grandchildren, Dane Eckols and wife Rachael, Colby Eckols and wife Allison, Kendra DeLucia and husband Damon, Jonathan Cocek and wife Chrystal, Jason Janek, Kimberly Sustala and husband Phil, Tate Janek, Quinn Janek, Trisha Vanek, and Ashlee MacGibbon and husband Justin; great grandchildren, Gabriela, Addie, Mae, Peyton, Troy, Skylar, Riley, Seth, Maisee and Reece; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jason Janek, Quinn Janek, Jonathan Cocek, Dane Eckols, Colby Eckols and Justin MacGibbon. Honorary pallbearers are Kendra DeLucia, Trisha Vanek, Kimberly Sustala, Ashlee MacGibbon and Tate Janek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund, West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund or St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund.
