Shirley Jean Dawson

December 17, 1947 — July 12, 2022

Shirley Jean (Bradburry) Dawson, age 74, of Hinton, Oklahoma was received by her Lord on, July 12, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack and her four children, Carrie LeAnne, Emily Renee, Jana Beth and Joshua Aaron. Shirley was a pastor's wife who ministered in song and instrumental praise. Outside the home, she worked primarily in service, which gave her an outlet for the vibrant personality by which she was known. Her true joys were her grandchildren, Blake, Isabella, James, Jonathan, Addie, and Jacob as well as her great grandchildren, Kirsten, Amaris and Paisley. She was a small-town Texas girl who, during her last days, reminisced about being baptized in the church of her youth. She gave God credit for her many years of health. Despite her diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2017, she remained mostly pain-free. The chemo did not rob her as it had many of her friends and for that, she was both humble and grateful. Her younger sister Connie, and her dear mother, Mary Lou (Sims) Moore, precede Shirley in death. Her remaining siblings Edith Mosely, Gearld Wayne Bradburry and wife Dorothy, Brenda Fullingim and husband Jerry, Ricky Bradburry, Bethany Struth and husband Gary, and Janie Smith and husband Michael along with their children and grandchildren have loved her well and share with us in the celebration of Shirley's life and the grief of her passing. Shirley's family, gained through marriage, stands with us in spirit and in the unity of prayer. Though she will be leaving behind cherished Oklahoma roots, she chose to return to her blue bonnet state to rest beside her sweet mother in the tiny town of West, TX where she was born on December 17, 1947 and graduated high school in 1966. A treasured scripture of our mother's was Philippians 4:1 (NLT). "Therefore, my brother's and sister's, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work." The passing of our sister, wife, mother, and friend could not have been prevented, but she was so brave in the letting go and we could not be more proud. We would love if you could join us to celebrate Shirley's life at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2022 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, TX with Pastor Louis Bennett, of Hinton, Oklahoma's Pentecostal Holiness Church officiating. There will be LIVE STREAM of the service. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
