Shirley Hutyra

Shirley Ruth Hutyra, age 79, of Joshua, passed away Monday afternoon, March 7, 2022. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2022 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 2:oo to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Shirley was born January 29, 1943 in Waco, the daughter of David and Birdie (Deason) Burns. She was a 1961 graduate of Waco High School. Shirley then attended North Texas University in Denton where she received a Bachelors Degree in Education. She taught 3rd grade and kindergarten in several schools and day cares in the Arlington and Burleson areas. On August 7, 1965 she was united in marriage to Edward Hutyra in West. Shirley was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Burleson. She enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, cooking, sewing, and was an avid Baylor Lady Bear Fan. She loved having gatherings at her home and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill, Bobby, and Harry Lee Burns; and sisters, Norma Hand and Dorothy Looney. Survivors include her beloved husband of 57 years, Edward Hutyra of Joshua; her children, Jarel Hutyra and Michelle Thompson of Mansfield, Julie and Dale Shields of Blum, and Katherine and Geoff Blaine of Dallas; her grandchildren, Jared and Destiny Hutyra, Jaclyn and Chris Arndt, Jacob Shields and Kaci Gunter, Hannah Shields, Colin Blaine, and Carter Blaine; great grandchildren, Arya, Gideon, Lyra, Jayce, Klyde; a brother, Allen and Rosemary Burns; a sister, Marilyn Knight; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Dale Shields, Geoff Blaine, Jacob Shields, Chris Arndt, Shannon Burns, and Don Lassetter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
