Selah Rose Shieldes

Selah Rose (Shelia Ruth Shieldes), age 83, formerly of West, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family January 16, 2020, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Selah was born November 28, 1936, in Eddy, Texas to Robert and Myra (Payne) Shieldes. During elementary school she lived in Wichita Falls, Temple, and Troy, Texas. She attended high school in West where she was a majorette, a band Queen and on the Honor Roll. She married her high school sweetheart, Calvin Raymond Popp. After graduation from West High School, Selah earned her RN degree at Providence Hospital. She later earned her MSN at Incarnate Word and worked as psychiatric nurse. Selah was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include four sons and one daughter, Dr. David Popp and wife Lani of San Antonio, Melissa Popp of San Antonio, Michael Popp and wife Sarah of Spencer, Iowa, Mark Popp and wife Yesica of Waco, and Christopher Popp and wife Sandra of San Antonio; twelve grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Popp and wife Sarah, Andrew Popp, Philip Popp, Hannah Heimbaugh and husband Grant, Rachel Popp, Tyler Quinn and wife Julie, Montana Ramos , Shiloh Ramos, Jordan Popp, Caleb Popp, Christopher Popp and wife Sarah, and Deborah Popp; eight great-grandchildren, Kara Popp, Kolette Popp, Jude Popp, Kingston Popp, Eli Heimbaugh, Gavin Quinn, Maddox Quinn and Keaston Quinn; her brother, George Robert Shieldes and wife Cathy; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. Pallbearers are Andrew Popp, Philip Popp, Jordan Popp, Caleb Popp, Christopher Popp, Montana Ramos, Francisco Estrada, and Gavin Quinn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
