Sarah Ellen Shiflett

Sarah Ellen "Sis" (Holder) Shiflett, age 95, of Houston, formerly of Gholson, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, March 10, 2007 in Houston. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gholson Cemetery, with Rev. Brad Moore officiating. Mrs. Shiflett was born April 18, 1911 in McLennan County near Gholson, the daughter of Will and Lou (Gifford) Holder. She was raised in Gholson and attended schools there. On July 2, 1981 she was united in marriage to Bill Shiflett in Houston. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2001. Ellen was a homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed gardening, flower gardening, especially her roses, and taking care of her animals. She was a member of Clay Road Baptist Church in Houston. She is also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and six sisters. Survivors include a son, James Ray Rozell and his wife Paula of Denton; a daughter, Beverly Rozell Niver of Houston; grandchildren, Paula Stivers and husband Chip, Lorna Hammonds and husband David, Greg Rozell, Corrie Edmondson and husband Chris; step grandchildren, Andrea Vest and husband Russell, Melinda Walker, and Dale Niver; eight great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
