Sallie Jean Kennedy, age 96, of West, passed away Monday February 14, 2005 at West Rest Haven. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Minister Bob Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Vaughan Cemetery in Hill County. The family will receive visitors from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kennedy was born on May 30, 1908 in the Aquilla community, the daughter of Fletcher and Melissa (Byrum) Vanderford. She attended school in Aquilla. On December 20, 1934, she was united in marriage to Tarlton Wright Kenndy and was happily married for 59 years until he preceded her in death on February 14, 1993. Sallie was a homemaker and loved gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a member of Church of Christ of West. Two brothers, three sisters, and a grandson Fletcher Kennedy, also precede her in death. Survivors include two sons, Gayle Kennedy and wife Margaret of Abbott and their sons, Tyson Kennedy and Cade Kennedy, Gary Kennedy and wife Sherry of College Station and their sons, Kevin Kennedy and Brad Kennedy. Active pallbearers will be Gayle Kennedy, Gary Kennedy, Tyson Kennedy, Cade Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy and Brad Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Woodruff, Joe Perkins and Wincel Vanderford. Memorials may be made to Vaughan Cemetery Association.
