Ruth Matilda Whinery

Ruth Matilda Whinery, age 77, of Hubbard, passed away late Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2013 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. No services will be held at this time per Ruth's request. Ruth was born December 16, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in an orphanage in that area. She graduated from high school in the Chicago area and then went on to nursing school where she received her license vocational nurse degree. Ruth worked in several nursing homes in the Illinois, Arkansas and Texas areas. She loved to spend time and babysit for all of her grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by three brothers, Timothy Waddell, Renee' Waddell, and Carl Whinery; two daughters, LaDonna Whinery and Tonie Whinery. Survivors include her beloved husband of 39 years, Carl Whinery of Hubbard; two sons, James Whinery and Herbert Whinery, both of Wichita Falls; a brother, Lenart Marlette of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Anna Roberts of Penelope; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
