Ruth Kocurek

Ruth Kocurek, age 84, of West, passed away early Saturday afternoon, July 12, 2008 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home by Janice Kaluza followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Kocurek was born on September 26, 1923 near West, the daughter of Frank C. and Victoria (Snokhous) Polansky. She attended St. Mary's School and on March 4, 1946, was united in marriage to Jerry Kocurek in West. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1991. She worked for Lorch Manufacturing Company in West and also as a nurse aid at West Community Hospital from the time it opened until its' closing. She then went to work for West Rest Haven until her retirement in 1989. Ruth enjoyed baking kolaches on Sunday, working in her flower garden, especially her roses, and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of CDA #829, KJZT #11, St. Anne's Altar Society, and St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She is also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Marvin Kocurek; three brothers, George Polansky, Frankie Polansky and John Polansky; and two sisters, Frances Polansky and Mary Brem. Survivors include one son, Robert Kocurek of Aquilla; three daughters, Bernie Klish and husband Eddie, Patty Urbanovsky and husband Bobby and Janette Cinek and husband, Frank, all of West; two brothers, Alphonse Polansky and wife Katherine of San Antonio and Jimmy Polansky of West; one sister, Rosalie Kolar of West; one sister-in-law, Christine Polansky of West; eight grandchildren, Darren Kocurek, Jason Klish and wife Hope, Heather Parrish and husband Chris, Janna Lassetter and husband Brent, Roby Urbanovsky and wife Kristy, Candace Lang and husband Matt, Colby Urbanovsky, Kristen Rodriguez and husband Nick, and Alison Marek and husband Brad; ten great-grandchildren, Kain, Hunter, Coy, Colton, Corbin, Kinley, Chansey, Peyten, Westen, and Alexis; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Roby Urbanovsky, Jason Klish, Colby Urbanovsky, Darren Kocurek, Chris Parrish, Brent Lassetter, Matt Lang, Nick Rodriguez, and Brad Marek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Senior Center or West Ambulance Association.
