Rudy Marak, age 81, of West, passed away early Thursday afternoon, September 27, 2007 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 9:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Rudy was born September 29, 1925, the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Hutyra) Barton near West. She attended West schools. On October 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Raymond Marak in West. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1972. Rudy owned and operated Shadowland Caf in West for 32 years before retiring in 1990. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was also a member of St. Anne's Altar Society and R.V.O.S. Lodge #47. Rudy enjoyed walking, tending to her vegetable garden and rose bushes, and visiting friends in West Rest Haven. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Raymond Barton; and a sister, Willie Mae Schuetz. Survivors include a son, Randy Marak and wife Kelli of Spring; a very dear and close friend, Billy G. Cook of West; a sister, Georgie Spruell of West; four grandchildren, Ellie Wilson of San Antonio, John E. Zett IV of Spring, Terry Joe Zett and Eric Zett, both of Waunakee, Wisconsin; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Hailey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are John E. Zett IV, Terry Lee Zett, Tommy Sadler, Craig Barton, Richard Hykel, and Randy Barton. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center or the charity of your choice.
