Rudy Barton

Rudy Barton, age 96, of West, formerly of Penelope, passed away Thursday evening, April 27, 2006 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A Rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Penelope, with the Monsignor Frank Miller as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Penelope. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Barton was born on February 12, 1910 in Mart, the son of Frank and Ottilie (Skrehot) Barton. He attended schools in Mart. He did maintenance work for the Texas Highway Department for several years until his retirement in 1975. After his retirement, he enjoyed restoring antique cars and loved to attend all the church meetings and bazaars. He was a member of the Model A Club and Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A sister, Agnes Hartis, who died on March 27, 2004, precedes him in death. Survivors include two sons, one brother, and several other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
