Ruby Fay Smetak

Ruby Fay Smetak, age 79, of West, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smetak was born on February 18, 1931 in Oklahoma the daughter of Artis and Ollie Mae (Almond) Tilley. The family then moved to Arkansas where she was raised and attended school in Russellville. In November of 1950 she was united in marriage to Florian B. Smetak in California. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1966. She was then united in marriage to Raymond Smetak on September 2, 1967 in Norwalk, California. He also preceded her in death on November 16, 1997. Ruby was a homemaker and enjoyed walking and dancing. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elk. Her parents; a son, Raymond L. Smetak; a brother, Otis Tilley; and a sister, Reba Abernathy; also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Mike Smetak and wife Becky of Axtell and Leonard Smetak of El Cajon, California; two brothers, Larry "L.D." Tilley of Downey, California and Donnie Tilley of La Habra Heights, California; a sister, Verna Easley of Hesperia, California; four grandchildren, Adam Smetak and wife Karie, Matthew Smetak, Misty Ortiz and husband Jose, and Sara Smetak and her fianc Jon; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives. Active pallbearers are Steven Marsh, Matthew Smetak, Edward Havel, Dennis Debbendener, Raymond Lucien, and Jason Lucien. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Smetak and Ronnie Lucien.
