Raymond Soukup

March 29, 1950 — March 5, 2025

Raymond Patrick "Roy" Soukup, age 74, of West, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025 at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.

A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott, with Deacon Robin Waters officiating.

Roy was born on March 29, 1950, in Waco to Joseph and Evelyn (Petter) Soukup. A proud graduate of Abbott High School in 1968, Roy furthered his education at Hill Junior College and Texas State Technical College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Diesel Mechanics. On November 1, 1986, Roy married Fern Hale, in Waco, beginning a partnership marked by love and companionship. He dedicated over 30 years of his professional life to Davis Trucking and Equipment in Bellmead, demonstrating unmatched skill and commitment as a mechanic. In his lifetime, he also lent his talents to B&K Filling Station in West, the Cottonwood Store, and the Waco Independent School District, from which he retired in 2015. Roy was a member of the KJT Society #107 in Abbott. Beyond his professional endeavors, he found joy in farming, tending to his cows, and spending time with his loyal dogs, Buddy and Gigi. Whether he was tinkering with something in the garage, working on his cherished 1966 Nova, or enjoying a few "Hershey's Kisses," Roy embraced life with enthusiasm. A passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he often found solace in watching football games and sharing hearty laughs with friends over a cold Pivo. Roy's warm spirit and hearty laugh were a beacon to those who knew him, and he cherished every moment spent with family and friends.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Polansky; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Soukup; and a brother-in-law, Don Philen.
