Roy Lee "Cowboy Jack" Bynum, Jr., age 76, of Lacy Lakeview, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 30, 2011 at his residence, surrounded by his loving friends and family. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy, with Rev. Chris Johnson and Bill Mahon officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mr. Bynum was born July 13, 1935 in Whitney, the son of Roy Lee and Lila Maurine (Tye) Bynum. He attended schools in Waco and graduated from University High School in 1955. He served his country with the United States Air Force for four years then the National Guard for four more. He worked as a security guard for several area businesses including M&M Mars in Waco. Roy enjoyed singing and was a local karaoke king. Roy was a member of the Chalk Bluff Baptist Church and the Waco Gun Fighters Club, a group that helped support many charities. Roy is preceded in death by his parents; a step father, Wilburn L. Grube; a sister, La Juana Rose Bright; and a niece, Debbie Grube.. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Bynum; a brother, William G. Bright and wife Bonnie; a sister, Cleo Darilek; granddaughters, Lisa, Janet, June and Airal; a niece, Jeannie; nephews, Chuck, Lawrence and James; his beloved caregiver, Vanessa Fulfer; and many other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Hidrogo, Austin Maxey, Thomas Grube, Lawrence Bright, James Bright, Michael Bright, and Billy Bright. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Texas Home Health Hospice. The family would like to thank God for letting Jack be a part of our loving family. He was loved by everyone and will be missed.
