Roy Allen Swanner, age 56, of West, passed away Thursday Dec. 29, 2005 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Tracy Jantz officiating. Mr. Swanner was born on April 4, 1949 in Waco, the son of Charles Buford and Dorothy Mae (Krause) Swanner. He graduated from University High School in Waco in 1967 and then joined the Merchant Marines for a short time. On December 16, 1977, he was united in marriage to Glynna Rene Haynes in Waco. He worked as a police officer in Waco and T.S.T.C. for over eighteen years until his retirement in 1992. He also worked as a truck driver for CertainTeed, Frozen Foods Express and Amsco. Roy loved gardening, spending time outdoors, ranching and working with cattle. He also had a great love for his dog. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Elm Mott. Survivors include his wife, Glynna Swanner of West; one son, Joe Anthony Swanner and wife Angela of Frisco; one daughter, Destini Norris and husband Dale of China Spring; his parents, C. B. Jr. and Dorothy Swanner of Frisco; three brothers, Marvin Swanner of Irving, Charles Swanner and wife Rhonda of Glenn Heights, and Mark Swanner of West; one sister, Donna Johnson and husband John of Frisco; special brother-in-law, David Haynes; four grandchildren, Joey Swanner, Justin Swanner, Jordan Swanner and Bailee Norris; his dog Chase; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
