Rosie Mae Groppe

Rosie Mae Groppe, age 95, of West, passed away early Monday morning, February 6, 2023 at West Rest Home in West.

Graveside Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 at Closner Cemetery, with Rev. Jeff Richter officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home.

Rosie Mae was born May 15, 1927 near Bynum, the daughter of August and Louise (Zahn) Groppe. She attended school at White's, Ross, and was a 1946 graduate of West High School. She was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed sewing for family and friends. Her delicious desserts, vegetables from her garden, and beautiful flowers from her yard graced many tables over the years. The Iris' from her garden can be found in yards throughout West. She always said she was most happy when working in the dirt and her beautiful yard showed the fruits of her labor. She had a soft spot in her heart for children and the elderly and visited them faithfully at the nursing home. She worked for Lorch Manufacturing Company in West for 24 years. She then worked for Aderhold Funeral Home for the next 12 years before retiring in 2001. Rosie Mae was a member of the First United Church in West, where she taught Sunday School for 54 years.

Rosie Mae is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herbert, Ernest, and Oliver Groppe; and sisters, Hattie Zettler, Erna Maass, Ida Loewe, Irene Maass, and Hilda Hocker.

Survivors include many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Kevin Groppe, Danny Kelm, Robert Groppe, Tony Sorrentino, Gerald Groppe, and Greg Groppe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Closner Cemetery Association.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, aides, and staff of West Rest Haven Nursing Home for their loving care of Rosie Mae and for all the help and support that has been given to the Groppe Family.
