Rose Marie Sulak

Rose (Petter) Sulak, age 82, of West, passed away early Monday morning, March 20, 2017 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Msgr. Henry Petter as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Rose was born December 29, 1934 near Leroy, the daughter of Albin and Louise (Gerich) Petter. She attended St. Mary's School and was a 1953 graduate of West High School. On January 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to Dennis J. Sulak in West. Dennis preceded her in death on December 29, 2012. Rose worked for the Texas Highway Department from 1969 to 1979 and then spent the next 17 years working for Texas Utilities in West until she retired in 1997. She was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where she was active in the Assumption Choir, served as an Extraordinary Minister and brought Communion to the homebound. Rose was also a member of the KJZT Society #11, Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 and SPJST Lodge #66. She enjoyed gardening, baking and traveling. She loved to dance with her sweetheart, Dennis and spend time with family and friends. Rose was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald J. Sulak; and brothers, John Petter and Bernard Petter. Survivors include her children, Cathy Sulak of West, Cindy Sulak of Troy, Rick Sulak and wife Kay of West, Duane Sulak and wife Nancy of Robinson and Laurie Crouch and husband David of Itasca; a "little" brother, Albin Petter Jr.; grandchildren, Julie Tonkin and husband Derek, Jason Sulak and wife Abigale, Kaylie Stroud and husband Matt, Kacie Johnson and husband Seth, Rachel Bates and husband David, Jacob Sulak, Aaron Sulak and fiance Evan Perkins, Ryan Crouch and Adam Sulak; great grandchildren, Bryce, Brandt and Bella Tonkin, Lylah and Carter Stroud and Annalee Rose Johnson; several sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, God children, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Derek Tonkin, Jason Sulak, Matt Stroud, Seth Johnson, David Bates, Jacob Sulak, Evan Perkins, Ryan Crouch and Adam Sulak. Honorary pallbearers are Julie Tonkin, Kaylie Stroud, Kacie Johnson, Abigale Sulak, Rachel Bates and Aaron Sulak. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund, St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
