Rosa Kostecka

Rosa Maria (Brenes-Paz) Kostecka, age 50, of West, passed away Thursday evening, March 7, 2024 at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Rosa was born September 24, 1973 in Puerto Rico the daughter of the late Jose Raul and Olivia (Aguilar) Brenes-Paz. She was a graduate of Holland High School. On August 21, 2004 she was united in marriage to Mark Kostecka in West. Rosa was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She worked as a cashier and clerk for the Czech Stop of West for over 15 years. Rosa enjoyed hunting, BarBQueing with Mark, watching television, walking, and riding bicycles. She especially loved spending time with her sons.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 20 years, Mark Kostecka of West; her sons, Mark Allen "M.J." Kostecka Jr. and Joseph Edwin Kostecka, both of West; a brother, Jose Brenes-Paz and wife Christina of Holland, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Mark Kostecka, M.J. Kostecka, Joseph Kostecka, Bobby Kostecka, Eric Kostecka, and Jose Brenes-Paz. Honorary pallbearers are James Kostecka, Jonathan Jones and Christopher Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
