Roque Smith, age 70, of Whitney, passed away Monday night, October 12, 2020 at the Doris Miller Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Waco. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Roque was born January 6, 1950 in Albuquerque, NM, the son of Eugene and Lola (Davis) Smith. He attended schools in El Monte, California. Roque proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer during the Vietnam War. He worked in transportation as a truck driver for many years. Roque enjoyed wood carving, making walking sticks, scuba diving and going to the gun range. He loved being a farrier at the local horse racing tracks in Florida. He has lived in many places including, Washington, Texas, Florida, Colorado and Oregon over the years. Roque is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Smith. Survivors include his parents, Eugene Phillip Lloyd Smith and Lola Jean Smith of Yelm, WA; two brothers, Barry Smith and wife Denise of Whitney, and Terry Smith of Yelm, WA; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
