Ronald Edwin Wilkinson, age 72, of Milford, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 19, 2014 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. A rosary will be recited 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, recited by Janice Kaluza. A visitation will follow until 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Boniface Onjefu as celebrant. Burial will follow at Old Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla. Ronald was born December 27, 1941 in Freer, the son of Joel Glavis and Viola Zettie (Jones) Wilkinson. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston and received a degree as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor from the University of Houston. He was a substance abuse counselor in Ft. Bend County from 1987 to 2008, when he retired and moved to Hill County Texas where he fulfilled his wishes to learn about his ancestors who settled in this area in the 1850's. On December 16, 1995 Ronald was united in marriage to Georgia Marcina Thomas in Needville. He was co-owner of WILCO NDT in Farmington, New Mexico. He was President of the Old Lebanon Cemetery Association. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and was a Fourth Degree with the Knights of Columbus in Needville. He was a compassionate person, loved people, and never met a stranger. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Rowena Lee Zapalac. Left to love and treasure his memory are his beloved wife, Marcina Wilkinson; two daughters, Joleta Jane Crainer of Alvin and Marisa Smith of Katy; a brother, Terry Wilkinson and wife Nadine; a sister, Joe Ann Golden and husband Frank of League City; grandchildren, Brandon Zapalac and wife Melissa, Casey Dworaczyk, Dalton Crainer, Chelsea Smith, Jenna Crainer, and Brittany Whitacre and husband Brandon; great-grandchildren, Callie Anne, Dylan, Brianna, and Walker; many nieces, nephews, and a host of other wonderful relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Zapalac, Casey Dworaczyk, Dalton Crainer, Joel Wilkinson, David Griffin, and Dennis Harnden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paw Pals in Hillsboro.
