Ronald A. Barber

Ronald A."Ronnie" Barber, age 67, of Gatesville, passed away late Friday afternoon, February 14, 2014 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Ronald was born September 24, 1946, in Waco the son of Willard and Wanda (Thedford) Barber. He was a 1965 graduate of Hillsboro High School and Attended Southwest Texas State in San Marcos. Ronald was the owner of the Courthouse Caf in Gatesville for 10 years. He worked as a heavy Marine Rigger in the South China Sea, South Sea, North Sea and Persian Gulf. He also was a Rigging Superintendent for the Glen Rose Nuclear Facility. Ronald was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Gatesville. He was a member of the Karem Shrine Temple and a Master Mason. He was an avid sports fan, especially football, baseball and competitive swimming. He also enjoyed music and loved to read. Ronald is preceded in death by his father and paternal grandparents, Herman and Gladys Thedford. Survivors include two daughters, Candie Barber of Kansas City, MO and Gladys Barber of Stephenville; two sons, Chase Barber and wife Candyce of San Diego, CA and Ronnie Barber Jr. of Gatesville; his mother, Wanda Koon of West; a sister, Queiva Richardson of San Antonio; brothers, Jack Barber and wife Diane of West and Denver Koon and wife Jennifer of Ft. Worth; his lifelong friend, Pat Fussell of San Augustine; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Denver Koon, Pat Fussell, Tom Patton, John Clawson, Jeffrey Makovy, Ricky Barber, J. C. Barber, Christopher Barber, Jason Lucien Jr. and Dalton Lucien. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an Educational Fund for his children.
